Damage to the Soft Tissues in your Mouth, including the Tongue, Cheeks, Lips, and Gums

It is well advised to rinse with warm salt water before placing a compress or gauze over the injury to stop the bleeding. On the outside of the mouth, you may apply a cold compress and hold it in place for 10 to 20 minutes. Remember, injuries within the mouth or lips can bleed profusely. If the bleeding does not stop, see you dentist or go to the hospital for emergency care.
